Anatoly B. Schmidt is a Financial Data Analyst. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Latvian University and has more than forty publications in biophysics, statistical physics, and econophysics.

About the Author
Dr. Anatoly.B. Schmidt holds M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from Latvian
University, Riga. For more than 10 years, Dr. Schmidt was the lead
modeling scientist at the Latvian Center for Biological, Medical, and
Ecological Research. In the 90s, he was engaged for several years in
development of computational chemistry software and in its applications
to life sciences. His research interests include modeling "of
anything", from biological processes to financial markets. His major
fields of expertise are the statistical physics, in particular, the
theory of fluids, (poly)electrolytes and plasmas, the solvation theory
and its applications in biology, and, most recently, quantitative
finance. Dr. Schmidt is the author of the book "Statistical
thermodynamics of classical plasmas" (Energoatomizdat, Moscow, 1991),
and more than 40 publications in biophysics, statistical and chemical
physics, and econophysics. Dr. A.B. Schmidt has been a financial data
analyst since 1997.

Flavio Junqueira is a member of the research staff of Microsoft Research in Cambridge, UK. He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of California, San Diego. He is interested in various aspects of distributed systems, including distributed algorithms, concurrency, and scalability. He is an active contributor of Apache projects, such as Apache ZooKeeper (PMC chair and committer) and Apache BookKeeper (committer). When he is idle, he sleeps.Benjamin Reed is a Software Engineer at Facebook working on all things small. His previous positions include Principal Research Scientist at Yahoo! Research (working on all things big) and Research Staff Member (working on the big and the small) at IBM Almaden Research. The University of California, Santa Cruz granted him a PhD in computer science. He has worked in the areas of distributed computing, big data processing, distributed storage, systems management, and embedded frameworks. I really feel like i 'get' zookeper after reading this book. It presents zookeeper in the context of consumers of the service and provides both java and 'c' sample code. It also gets into the internals of zookeeper itself (I must confess that I skimmed this chapter). Top notch information on a fresh approach to distributed systems co-ordination. Definitely worth the money (and more importantly) time.

A book on ZooKeeper has been needed for a long time. The author walks one through setting up and using Zookeeper; this can be contrasted with the small ZooKeeper section in the Hadoop book. This book is much more thorough and in depth coverage of the topic. While I'm still working through the examples and learning, I can say that it is filling a knowledge void that I've been desperate to address for a long time. (BTW -- I pre-ordered this several months ago)

Found it to be well-written. The author does a nice job of explaining the problem space, how ZK was conceived to fill the gap and the details you need to know to understand it

Very informative. I've been using zookeeper for a while and this taught me several new things I can do with configuration to make it even more highly available.

Very useful, given the limited documentation available. Seems to be the only reference for using ZK from C/C++. Helped me develop a great solution for a distributed analytics system.

Zookeeper is a great tool, but you don't 'get it' with all the use cases by reading the online docs.This book does the job by explaining the typical use case, api, framework, and make it much easier to understand.The book is well written too, easy to follow. Highly recommend it.

Very good terse overview of major functionalities about Zookeeper .Pretty covered most of topics I am interested.

I loved this book! I have to admit the first few pages made me a little nervous. I had heard wonderful things about the book and I was afraid it was going to be less than spectacular and just a lot of quotes of different philosophers. Boy, was I wrong and thrilled as I got into the book and realized how much good there was in it! It took a second of patience and I was rewarded with a lifetime of rewards!

This is an excellent presentation of mostly long forgotten Christian leaders from the past who have supported ideas that are now apparently only found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon). These equally long forgotten beliefs are today considered far out or ridiculous, once had a life long before Mormonism was founded.This book explains it in such beautiful and mostly easy to understand prose that it will make the Mormons smile and those not affiliated almost consider conversion.

The Givens' are amazing. I had the privilege of hearing them speak once, but their names didn't stick with me at the time. I ordered this book based on reviews and found inside many of the points they had made in their amazing presentation. I was quickly convinced they were one and the same and went to look and voila! They were! This book is incredible. Their marvelous way of articulating thoughts is an artform. And, by the way, if there is a version out there with Fiona reading it, you should definitely download it as her accent is rich and beautiful and makes you feel smarter for having heard it. ;)
